Bangalore to Coorg Cab

Bangalore to Coorg by cab

Coorg, or Kodagu, is one of the favourite weekend escapes from Bangalore. The trip is about 255 km, around 5.5 hours, and it ends among coffee estates and misty hills. With family or friends, a cab saves you the long drive and the hill roads at the end.

The road

Most cabs head towards Mysore and then turn west through Hunsur or Kushalnagar. The final stretch is on smaller hill roads, which take longer than the distance suggests. Leave early so you arrive in daylight.

Stops on the way

Srirangapatna is a convenient break near the start of the hills route. Near Kushalnagar, the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe, a Tibetan monastery complex, is a popular stop.

Where to stay and what to see

Madikeri is the main town, with Raja's Seat and Abbey Falls nearby. Dubare is known for its elephant camp on the Kaveri, and Talakaveri is a calm hilltop pilgrimage. Check timings, as some places close or change hours by season.

Many homestays are on estates down narrow roads, some of them unpaved. Share the homestay's map pin and phone number when you book. Mobile signal can be weak, so save your directions before you set off.

Best time to go

The months after the monsoon, into the winter, are popular for cool weather. In the monsoon, from around June to September, the hills look their greenest but rain can slow the roads. Long weekends get crowded, so book early.

Choosing a vehicle

An SUV is a sensible choice for hill roads and luggage, especially with four or five people. Larger groups can compare tempo travellers in the results, though some estate roads may be narrow, so check with your homestay.

How booking works

Search with your pickup, drop, date and time, then compare the vehicles and fares on screen. Pick a car, add your name, mobile number and exact pickup address, and pay the 20% advance. The rest goes to the driver. Tolls, permits and parking are charged at actuals where they apply. Please read our cancellation and refund policy before you confirm.
